Traumatology & orthopaedic surgery
Dr. Ignatios Chatziandreou
We all encounter problems with the musculoskeletal system some point in our lives and it's then that we come to realise how joints and spine health affect our quality of life.
Knowledge and treatment of musculoskeletal system diseases is one of our tasks. The aim of an orthopaedist is finding the problem, making the correct diagnosis and then customising the therapy to each patient's needs.
TRAUMATOLOGY AND ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY
During my specialisation in traumatology and orthopaedic surgery, I focused myself on arthroscopic and open-knee surgery, open-hip surgery and arthroscopy on the shoulder joint. With more than two thousand primary knee prostheses and hip prostheses and more than 300 revisions of knee and hip prostheses, I am with no doubt a specialist in the replacement of these two joints, as well as in the implantation of prostheses with modern and minimally-invasive approaches.
In the first years of its application in Germany, I was one of the first orthopaedists who implanted customised, individual and 3D-printed knee prostheses. After a large number of successful implantations, I am also an instructor for these prostheses at workshops and live surgeries. Since February 2018, I have been the only surgeon working in Spain to use this type of knee prosthesis.
During the last few years, the so called “biologicals” are gaining more importance. In traumatology and orthopaedic surgery we have a solution in the form of PRP, stem cell etc., used for treatment of acute and chronic lesions of muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage. In addition, isolated cartilage defects can be filled with an artificial cartilage matrix these days. It is a good alternative to the more invasive open bone-cartilage transplantation. Hyaluronic acid is also used for non-endocrine arthrosis.
We offer proven and innovative treatments in orthopaedics. These include both conservative and surgical (joint preserving and arthroplastic) procedures.
